My 2011 Triumph Bonneville...

Too early to tell, I've only got 360 miles on my new Bonneville T-100, but so far it is an awesome machine.



When I was young I had several bikes, in varying sizes equally split between MotoCross, Enduro, and Street bikes, I loved them all particularly the MotoCross bikes, what a blast. When I was... in my late 30's I broke a bone in my right knee, and recovery took almost a year.

Our main source of income came from my job as an airline pilot with Eastern Airlines. Due to the nature of the injury and the nature of the job, the bikes had to go. I just turned 67 last month (April 2011) and decided I was going to get a bike again.

Due to the popularity of the HD machines I began looking at them, and was overwhelmed by all the different models, and by the prices.

Every time I decided to drive to the Harley dealer to take yet another look, the car would pull me uncontrollably to the Triumph dealer parking lot, and the last time I set out for the HD dealer, I never made it, I ended up buying a T100 from the Triumph dealer in Plano, Texas.

I ended up with the basic black/pearl white T-100, with a quick disconnect summer screen windshield, a king and queen upgraded seat, a sissy bar, a small charger/conditioner, a tank magnetic bag, a giant lock (that I don't think I will ever use), some Triumph shirts the dealer threw in, and with tax, tag, title, etc. all for $11,800.62

I then bought some boots, a beautiful Triumph winter/summer riding protective jacket, a couple of full face modular helmets, leather gloves, all which totaled up to around $1000+

Anyway it is too early to tell, but every day that go for a ride, and get more in sync with the bike, the more I like it. I may well buy a Harley in the near future, but I will certainly keep the Bonneville, it is incredibly responsive. The handling has been better in every respect than I had hoped...
