2008 SYM Fiddle II 50

Absolutely the most mediocre scooter out there; and I'm being kind.
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 24, 2010I bought the Fiddle II last year. Even though the performance was disappointing
when I test rode it, I was assured that this could be remedies when the scoot was derestricted. Well, it has been fully derestricted, and the new CDI that is available from Carter Bros. has been installed. The ... top speed is increased (you can blow the engine going downhill), and acceleration after ten MPH is better, but it's still disappointing. And it's still too dangerous to drive in heavy traffic due to the anemic accelertion.
I once owned a Honda Metropolitan, and I was able to get much more performance out of it. I think the Fiddle's main problem is that it's just too big to be a 49cc. Speaking of size, the wheel base is also too long for a scooter with this size wheels. I've got over 20 years riding experience, and I have still nearly spilled this thing over going around corners. It's just not a very nice handling scooter.
For the nearly two thousand dollar price tag, you can do a lot better. This scoot is made in China, and the build quality seems to be about the same as most of the better Chinese scooters, but not on par with those from Taiwan, Korea, or Japan. There simply is no conceivable reason to buy this scooter. If you want a 49cc, look elsewhere.
