Strommin along
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 15, 2008Following the destruction of a perfectly good 02 SV650 and a two year layoff from riding while recovering I decided to settle on something a little less "sporty" and purchased a new 650 V Strom in July of 2006. I have never regretted the choice. I find the Strom to be an ideal tourer and quite capable ... of very sporty riding as well. It was a bit too tall for my 30" inseam so I lowered it front and rear with no change to handling. Mileage is excellent (47 to 55+ mpg) even when flogging it and the OEM Bridgestone Trail Wings are surprisingly grippy as well. I ride with a group of sportbike riders once a month and, as long as the road is tight and twisty, I have no trouble staying with the pack. This is a bike that has its major appeal to long distance tourers with its 5.9 gallon tank, but those with a yen for the occasional sporty ride shouldn't be put off from looking at the Strom as a true all around ride.
