Serves its purpose as a commuter
By (I am an Owner) on May 07, 2010Bought new in 2005. 20k km. Originally a restricted version, I think it got much nicer to drive since I had it derestricted. No other upgrades done. It is well suited to my daily commute (50 km). Due to low weight it is simple to use in heavy traffic. It can easily handle motorway traffic here in ... Norway. Low petrol comsumption. I don't think this bike will be comfortable on long distance touring. The front suspension is much too soft, but I'm not certain it would be worth it to fix that. It rusts easily, especially around the welds. At the 12k km service the camshaft was defective (fixed with no extra cost). No other problems.

GS500F Rider
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 15, 2008Well in 2005 I received my motorcycle license and wasted no time to go find a bike. I was limited by money and experience. I wanted some sporty and something not to difficult. When i went to chicagocycle to check out the bikes the 2004 GS500F it was calling my name. I purchased it and was riding ... right away. The bike is a great beginner bike. After riding for three years the bike still runs great and is still my favorite bike and will be until I can afford a newer bike, possibly a GSXR Suzuki 750 or 1000.
