Very Good Value and Technology
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 28, 2009My 2008 MP3-400 is a revelation in technology, stability, peppiness, and unique features. I have run mine for 700 miles in 2 months with no problems. The bike handles very nimbly, has good gas mileage (about 60 mpg), and gets me there safely in rain or shine. I have had it on forest service roads ... with no problems, with care getting over gravel and ruts. The front suspension has a user activated self-locking ability that stands the bike up, parked or when moving slowly. Used judiciously, that cool feature is great for commuting in heavy stop'n go traffic. Lots of curiosity from bystanders! Lots of storage for gear or groceries. Overall a very sophisticated and nice bike. The caveats are that the suspension can break with abuse (bashing big potholes) and as a complicated machine, there is alot to go wrong. (See previous review) So have a transporting method for this bike if it breaks down. This is not a beginners bike, but an enthusiast's dream scooter. I highly recommend it!

Piaggio MP3 400
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 10, 2009I recieved my bike April 2, 2008. Since my previous bike was a 49cc, (Aprilia SR50 R Factory) I rode the smaller one for awhile in order to get used to riding again.
I only rode the new bike for 3 weeks, and then it would not start. Tried recharging battery. Called Piaggio to get their ... "free" towing service which cost $30. The bike was in the shop for about 7 weeks all through the summer. I got it back, and just managed to run it in (500 miles) before storing it for the winter.
I don't know if I can trust it on a long ride which was why I had bought it in the first place.
