Lance Havana Classic 125 and my experience
By (I am an Owner) on May 25, 2017I was hesitant at first to look at this scooter. Just like many or heck probably everyone, who is this "Lance" company and how long have they been making scooters. After some research I found out they are just an importer/distributer of this scoot and it's actually manufactured by SYM, which is ... another company I never heard of. But digging deeper yet discovered that SYM also manufactured various Hondas over the years and they have a pedigree for quality manufacturing. Prior to 2010 however, Lance had Znen manufacturing their scooters but quality wasn't there so the switch to SYM. Anyways enough with that and let's get to brass tax. What I think of my Lance Havana 125. First off apperance and build quality. Everything seems to be top notch and fit and finish is good. There are a couple spots in the bottom of the sil that the panels don't align 100% but you have to look hard to see it and it is really just a finnicky thing and I had to stretch to find something negative about that. Headlight is extremely bright and all the controls feel really solid in the hand and operating. It starts right up. Either using the electric start or the kick start. Purrs like a kitten and while this obviously being a 125, one doesn't expect it to be a speed demon. But I have no trouble keeping up with traffic, zooming out in front at a green light and have had it up to 60 mph. Course we know the speedo is optimistic and I have not gps verified. I keep up just fine and find that acceleration is neck and neck with my Girlfriends Buddy 125. I see this scooter lasting for years to come. Ok on to just a couple of negatives. Blinker doesn't make any noise and at first I was one of those guys driving around with the constant blinker and never turning. Now that I am used to it doesn't happen very often but it would've been nice to have an auditory blinker beep or click of some kind, but really not a big deal at all and hardly worth mentioning. Storage and this is my biggest gripe about this scoot. Not even enough under seat storage for a half helmet, yes it's that small. Why they designed it that way is beyond me. I don't like he looks of a trunk on most scooters, but may add one at some point. Lance if you are listening, at bare minimum make it fit a half helmet. While there are the helmet hook things to hook the D ring and close it shut and sort of lock the helmet to the scoot. Ok, enough negatives. Finally I will end with the comfort of the ride and rider ergonomics. I find this to be the most comfortable scooter I have been on. I can scoot back and extend my legs and arms and it feels great. I am 6' and find this more then enough room. It feels like a cruiser as opposed to a sport bike if that comparison makes sense. So anyways, I would highly recommend the Lance Havana 125. Definitely not a scoot for the freeways. But for around town and roads under 45 mph, it's perfect. Nice comfortable cruiser scooter that keeps up in the 125 cc class and as long as you don't need to haul anything larger then a couple water bottles (without adding add on cappacity) then give this a try. Oh and for an ultra low price?!!! A definate buy. It's easy to look past the minor shortcomings at the extreme value of this high quality scoot
