The great Kawasaki 1700 Vulcan Classic
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 29, 2018I own a 2009 Classic LT, this bike does everything very well. It looks good, sounds good(Cobra pipes, K&N air filter, I ride with several Harley riders, street glides, Road Kings, Classic EVO's the LT has the same size engine yet gets 50-52 mpg, way better than the Harleys and best of all I paid ... half of what they paid. I'm retired so I watch my $, this is the best value per smile that I can think of. My only complaint is it gives off a lot of heat, even being liquid cooled.

Don't know what rodg is talking about
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 28, 2014I went to just look and saw a 900 thought it was cute but it wasn't for me, i turned around to leave and there was the classic Lt as soon as i sat on it, i knew it was for me. I tried to find fault but just could not, i tried so hard that i finally found a complaint,it should have come with a speedometer ... visor for night riding. Cherokee NC, 441 to Gatlinburg tn, slow ride through roaring forks, open road down I-26, quick hops to shut the kids up, and i still can't find fault, oh wait first to second gear was clunky but shifting sooner smooth even that out.
The green is mean on my two tone machine.

Bought it and Love it - Selling my new M50
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 12, 2011I was in love with teh Suzuki Boulevard M50 for 4 years. I finally bought one 2 months ago, and as expected, loved it. However, it was gutless on the highway, and useless for 2 up... my wife was sore within 10 kms.
So with 110 kms on the M50, I bought the Vulcan 1700 Classic LT 2 ... weeks after buying the M50...and LOVE IT! I wish I'd got this bike first!
The M50 is now sitting covered in my garage, and the VL1700 LT is my ONLY ride now. I can't say enough good thing about this bike, from its appearance, to its handling, to its comfort, to its power... EVERYTHING more than met my expectations. I don;t think there is a better bike out there!
Anyone wanna buy a brand new (110km) M50???

its for sale
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 24, 2010Just picked up my new 09 1700 Classic LT and am not pleased with it. I only had the opportunity to test ride it on the dealer's parking lot, that part went fine, it wasn't until I paid for it and took it on the highway that I realized I should not have bought it. Everything was fine until I got to ... 5th gear, it just bogged down. Unless the bike is doing over 120 kph, you have no acceleration in 5th gear and 6th gear is useless until you reach 140kph,it just shudders below these speeds. I found that I had to stay in 4th gear at 110 kphto have any power available at all.Seems 5th and 6th gears are overdrive, and to me, the gears are to high for normal highway riding.
Other than that, the bike is fine, its very light for a 1700cc cruiser, and handles like a much smaller bike. Power is decent in the first 3-4 gears, but thats it. It is noisy, but apparently the belt is to tight from the factory, and only needs adjustment.
Right now I am looking at selling it, or trading it on something better. Should have bought a Yamaha Stratoliner in the first place.Live and learn I guess. Anyone want an 09 1700LT with 250km on it for $10,000 canadian? lol do I hear $9,000. even? lol
My last Kawi ever.

Vulcan 1700 classic Lt
By (I am an Owner) on May 29, 2009I purchased my 1700 classic Lt the last of March, I have only put 1400 miles on it but I have always ridden touring bigs and this bike is a much needed change for me. I have ridden as much as 3 hours at one strech so far and have no problem with comfort, sitting position is excellent, handle bar positioning ... is good, motor torgue is great and very responsive any time the throttle is twisted.
Fuel injection system has worked perfectly so fuel mileage average right now just criusing is 37.5 to 39.
Bike handles great and seems to be well balanced and is easy to manuver even at low speed
Saddle bags have ample room for short trips or overnighter.
Suspension seems to be more than adequate even 2 up riding. Air shocks with adjustable damping is great.
The windshield position is the one place that I can't seem to get adjusted right even with the 2 1/2 adjustment up and down. There is always wind drag about eye level regardless where adjusted to. Smaller rider would more than likely have a problem I am 6' 3 and around 290 pounds I will check out taller shield which could solve the problem.
Over all the bike seems to well layed out and is very fun to ride. I am extemely pleased with bike and would highly recommend it to other people.
Waiting on accessories to come on the market so tha I can add a few finishing touches for me.
