Hyosung GT125R
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 13, 2010the Hyosung gt125r is a perfect bike both for comfort and looks, it looks sounds and feels like a bigger bike, more around the 600cc mark, which is great because when i pass my test i don't need to run out and buy a bigger bike, although i have to admit the gt650r and even the gt250r are very alluring, ...
the top speed i've got out of mine was 74mph but i have to admit it was screaming it can get upto about 65mph confortably, it has great handling and seems to perform well in all weathers i do about 80-100 miles per week on it
i am a member of the uk owners club and if you own a hyosung we would love you to join there is regular meet ups and rallies, any many discussions taking place on the forum pop along and join us at http://ukhyo-ownersclub.co.uk

Perfect First Bike
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 14, 2010Bought my Hyosung GT250R Dec 2009. First time I rode a manual motorcycle was this one off the showroom floor. I have covered 7400km since new.
Problems:
1. Neutral is difficult to find;
2. Neutral light stops working now and then. When this happens, ... the bike stays goes into neutral but will not start. Engaging and disengaging the stand sorts the problem out. I suspect the stand cut-off is faulty.
3. Mirror screws also get rusty quick but my dealer covered this under warranty.
4. Mirrors also came loose but dealer sorted this out.
5. Oil leak noted after second service but this is covered by warranty.
6. Sometimes the bike slips out of gear into a lower gear. Usually from 2nd to neutral...quite irritating.
7. Standard tires are terrible.
8. brakes need replacement after 7000kms
Things to be greatful for:
1. Price;
2. Only 250cc on the market thats the same body size as a 600cc or 1000cc;
3. Brilliant looks;
4. I touched 178km/h (110.6mph) and I am 176lbs (no mods, no slip on exhaust, stock standard;
5. extremely light on gas best trip approximately 350km (217.5 miles) on a tank of gas;
6. comfortable riding position for a superbike style;
7. decent handling despite the terrible standard tires; I have since ridden a zx6r and r6 to compare with;
8. much better option to zx250r ninja cos this is the same size as a 600cc
Although there seems to be a load of faults for a new bike, these faults are on a whole, pretty minor as most things are covered under warranty. I rev it hard and it hasnt broken (as yet). ride and comfort i rate good because no major repairs considering the way i rev it.
This bike has served me well and actually will be sad to let it go but I have found a zx6r that i cannot say no to. If finances permitted I would keep the hyosung and still buy the zx6r.
All in all, its the perfect bike to learn on if your intention is to move on to a 600cc or a 1000cc superbike. Its the only 250cc that's the same size as a full blown superbike.

Don't Buy A Hyosung
By (I am an Enthusiast) on Nov 14, 2009I have similar problems with my 250R that a previous poster stated. It is extremely difficult to shift into neutral at times, the mirrors don't stay in place, and the front suspension lost stiffness quickly. On top of that...I took my bike to 2 dealers in the Portland metro area and got the worst ... service I've ever experienced. The first told me they'd have anestimate by the end of the week and when they didn't I had to call 5 times and speak to the owner to get the estimate. Since the service was so bad I took it to another shop and the repair took 5+ months because they had a problem getting parts. Then when I got the bike back it was scratched in several locations, the front end rattles, and a part of the faring was broken. They also charged me more for the repair then what they quoted me on the estimate and when I spoke to the owner and told him that they needed to talk to me first before raising the bill he said it was only an estimate and subject to change. It was the worst experience I've ever had with a business. When I spoke to the owner about the issues I had, he yelled and swore at me and didn't do anything to resolve the problems. My assumption is that the good mechanics work on the bigger brands and the bad mechanics find employment working on hyosung bikes, and there is no quality control that the brand requires of its dealers. Honestly biggest mistake of my life buying a hyosung.

Great Bike...
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 14, 2009I just purchased the bike, as a first time street rider. I love the bike and everything it has to offer from looks to comfort. The only problem I am having is getting it into nuetral.

SO FAR SO GOOD
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 02, 2009Bought this bike a year ago and still enjoying it today. Since I'm a first time rider I can't really compare it to other bikes but overall I don't regret my purchase (like they say, ignorance is bliss). From other reviews I've seen it seems the 08-09 year model are better in terms of reliability. ...

Holding a charge...
By (I am an Enthusiast) on Jun 03, 2009My son has a GT250R and my wife has a GV250 Alpha Sport, Neither one of them can hold a charge for no more than a day and a half. I am constantly putting them on charge just to do it again for the following day. If there is someone out there that knows what this issue is can you post here on this ... website.

I love it!
By (I am an Owner) on May 21, 2009I am very happy with it. No problems and plenty of power for a 250cc. I'm 220lbs and it pulls me with plenty to spare. Haven't had problems with screws rusting or staying tight. Mine has 5673mi on the odo. I bought it because of the warranty and I know my dealer really well. It looks good too!

love the bike
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 11, 2008I purchased this bike as my first bike. I was a little worried about getting a 250 everyone said that it would be to small for me 6'3" 240lbs. I fits me fine and I do not look like I am riding my sons bike. I have not had any problems with rusting or loose screws or getting the bike in nuetral. ... The one thing I have noticed is that if I have a problem putting the bike in nuetral from a standstill I have to move it a little to find nuetral. The only real issue I have had is that the speedomoter is off by 6 miles. After talking to some other bike owners. They have the same issue with some of their bike. I love the ride. I bought my bike in mid june I have already put 4000 miles on it. I plan on upgrading to the gt650 in a year or two.
