I Love my Harley
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 26, 2012I am the proud owner of a 2008 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic. This is my eleventh Ultra. This 08 has 45,000 miles on her and she never misses a beat. My wife and I do long distance riding. We've been to Alaska on the Harley with out a mechanical problem. If your looking for a great motorcycle buy ... a Harley Davidson Ultra Classic.

Best bike I've ever owned!
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 16, 2012I purchased my 08 Ultra in the spring of 2010 used with 10,000 kilometer in mint condition privately. I have put 15,000 kilometer in the last two summers. I drive the bike from late March until late November which is a feat in Norther Ontario Canada. I have only had one issue is with the radio which ... died but thankfully I had purchased the extended warranty. I am glad to have finally purchased a Harley. My wife usually rides with me because she enjoys the ride. She did not like my previous bike a 2000 Suzuki Marauder which I drove for eight years. I will definitely keep this bike for many years to come. Lot of power, good on fuel and the bike handles nicely, what else can a biker ask.

Lucky find
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 24, 2011I found a used 08 Ultra with only 2413 miles on it for only $15,500. Blue book was about 19k. I now have 7500 miles on this bike and have to keep pinching myself that this bike is so nice and still like brand new. It has a few chrome extras as well. Nice handling for such a big bike. This thing ... corners way better than the Yamaha 1100 I was riding with a much more comfortable ride.

Gotta love it!
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 17, 2011Bought my 105th Anniversary #6991 of 7000 in spring of 2010. It is a gorgeous bike and I get nothing but compliments all the time. I find it a bit heavy to balance compared to my previous Road Star Midnight Silverado.
Sixth gear is a bit too high and you need to be going at least 60MPH to ... go there. Heat is unbearable on really hot days.
Sounds like I am not happy but I love the bike. Put a pair of 4" V&H slash cut slipons on recently and it runs perfect without adjustemnt. Cruise and sound system are great. Lots of nice features.

The best yet
By (I am an Owner) on Dec 18, 2010Having owned several bikes, a mixture of sport & tourer I find this bike probably the best yet.
I attended the Euro festival in St Tropez in May 2010, taking the ferry from Hull to Zebrugge, then riding straight down to St Tropez. Unfortunately France had it's worst weather for 40 years at ... this time of year. Heavy rain and snow, meant slow travelling and frequent stops. I was getting concerned that the electrics on the bike would soon give in to the terrible weather conditions, however there was no such problem, tempratures dropped to 1' and the rain/sleet was bitterly cold. Even when the bike was left out overnight in these conditions it would start first time in the morning and run all day without a hiccup. The ride back was a lot better NO RAIN and some sunshine. This gave me the chance to really test the bike. Keeping at a steady 70mph I would get well in excess of 300 mile to the tank, however taking the speed up to 85/90 mph it dropped quite significantly. The handling at all speeds was effortless and confident. Having road pegs fitted gave a multitude of ride positions which meant longer hours actually riding and not stretching aching limbs. I can't say enough about this bike, other than, I won't be selling it and I will be going to St Tropez in 2011.

Best Ever, Except For The Heat
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 26, 2010Love this bike. I ride my Ultra all over Texas (457 miles one day) on vacation or day trips with my brothers... she's a pleasure to ride. This bike handles great, I actually scraped one of the floor boards with my wife on the back one day. It startled both of us!
But, the engine does ... run hot, and is hard to re-start after a quick gas stop while on the road. My friends look at me like there's a problem. But she always starts and finishes in style.

2008 Ultra, Fantastic
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 19, 2009I have owned 7 Goldwings, and 5 Ultras. The 2008 Ultra is the best of them all. Fantastic handeling, and a real comfort. Love the six speed. I am fairly tall and the low center of gravity gives me the feeling of being in the bike instead of on top of it. Cornering is a blast.

Dissapointed is all I can say
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 11, 2009While this is a beautiful ride, it's been in the dealers shop more nights than it's been in my garage.
With a few exceptions, very weekend ride has ended with me calling the dealer to come pick the bike up for, and I kid you not, the same recuring issue. The bike pukes oil out the ... air cleaner so bad that covers the entire right side of the bike and has forced my wife and I to cut short most of our weekend rides in the mountains surrounding Reno, NV.
The bike is in the shop for the fourth time for the same problem and so far non of the fixes the dealer has performed have worked. With just over 2,000 miles on it and four trips to the shop to fix this problem, all I can say is that my 15 year wait and my investment in a 25 thousand dollar bike has got me to re-thinking just why I wanted a Harley bagger in the first place. My old Goldwing carried my ass for over 55,000 miles and never ever spent a day in the shop except for necessary tune-ups and oil changes.
Fourth time could be a charm but I won't bet the farm on it.

Very nice
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 26, 2009I am new to riding, I have only rode for 3 years this is my third bike, and my second geezer glide. I cant beleave the power difference between the 88ci and the 96ci. I will never own anything but a harley. My wife feels that the back seat is more comfy than any other bike. Great bike feels well ... made its for sure nicer than a wing.

Great Machine
By (I am an Owner) on Dec 30, 2008This is number 4 for HD owned, but first Geezer Guide and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I did have the motor up graded to 103 ci something I think HD should offer as an optian rather then have an extra box of parts laying around. The bike handles great even in side winds up to 45 mph. In the ... worste conditions this bike feels stable. Even with the larger engine I am still getting 48 mpg no matter what the speed. My wife and myself put 14000 miles on in the year we have had it and always look forward to putting more miles on it. Both rider and passenger ride is super.

SO GOOOOOOD !!!
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 22, 2008I got my new ultra from Tripps in Amarillo. I had a oil cooler, stage 2 kit, rush pipes and some special chrome installed before it was delivered in Feb they did not mark up the price at all. I now have 12280 miles on it as of today. The dealership has met my every need. This bike puts a smile ... on my face every time I ride it. The power and ride and dependability make it a fun all day ride. The things I think are not quite up to par is 1. about 40-42 mgp disapoints me but most of the time thats at above 70 mph. 2.The heat gets really noticable so I do not slow down much and HD fixed that in 09. 3. When I fill the tank I get splashes little all the time it is filling and that did not happen on my old classic. It is a really strong machine.

2008 Ultra
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 28, 2008After many years on Yamaha Ventures this is my first HD and it is truly a pleasure to ride. Much lower center of gravity much easier to handle. The riding position, comfort, reliability, and value retention make this the best bike I have ever owned.

Great touring bike.
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 19, 2008Purchased bike used with 350 miles on it. Paid $20,000. I was going to buy new from dealer, but the dealer wanted $1000 set-up fee on top of the suggested retail price. New from the dealer would have been $26,000 that included tax. The bike is great touring, but not for $26K.
So, I love ... everything about the Ultra. If you are looking for a HD tour, thats the bike. It has everything you need. It is heavy, but it helps on windy days or going over bridges.
2 pet peves. first, the heat from the engine (air cooled), takes time to get used to. Though its ok on cool days.
Second, the radio, cb, cd, am, fm, intercom works supurb, but you need to read the instruction manual many timnes to get it to operate properly. Sometimes fustrating. Intercom is awsome and voice operating. No need to puch any buttons.
The 2008 has the 6 gallon tank, bremb brakes & 6-speed transmittion.
One thing about the Ultra Classic is the 20 year look. HD hasn't changed the look, but its a Harley and thats what you get.
I am not inlove with thewhite wall tires, (looks old fashion), but thats fixablewhen I get the second set, which will be the Screaming Eagle blackwalls.
Good luck and safe riding.

Pleased with the quality, disapointed with the heat issue
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 04, 2008After owning a Victory and dealing with the noisey transmission that's common to all Victorys I must say that the Ultra Classic is a breath of fresh air, very hot fresh air, but still a great machine. The rider heat shields should be standard rather than the $75 option from the parts department. ... Harley but a great deal of thought into their bike I just wish they would have addressed the heat issue before the 09 model year. It's the best ride I have every had all the way around and think it's well worth the money if you are a serious long distance 2-up rider.
