2004 Harley-Davidson Road King® Classic

I've owned Harley-Davidson motorcycles all my life starting with a factory Harley-Davidson dirt bike when I was 5 years old and in 2017 I bought my 2004 flhrc Road King Classic. This is the first bike I've ever owned with a windshield and now that I'm getting older and less healthy, I love the windshield ... feature. Everyone has their own style and preferences but for me I love this bike and it's only got sixty thousand miles on it and the best thing about Harleys or any bikes is that no two bikes are alike you can customize everything on them. About 6 months ago I went with the Ridewright Fat Daddy spoke wheels and for me it rides great and is comfortable on Long rides with the highway bars and each year I set a different goal on my upgrades and this year I'll put hard bags on it because with my concealed permit I can't lock the leather bags. But this bike is phenomenal to me because when I twist the throttle it has immediate response and I just rode the Tail of the Dragon a couple months ago and it handles great and all around the perfect bike for me at this point in my life. Here's pictures from when I bought the bike to now with the new front fairing, slip on exhaust,daymaker headlights,12 inch narrow apes which make it much more comfortable on a ride after AC reconstruction surgery on my shoulder at the beginning of 2019 after an idiot ran me off the road and kept going. As I said to eat their own as far as preferences and styles but for me this bike is perfect. Love it !!!

In 2005 I bought my first Harley-Davidson. It was a Softail Deluxe. In 2014 I bought my second Harley-Davidson and it was a Street Glide Special and sold it in May 2021. I regretted selling my Street Glide and decided to buy a 2016 BMW R1200RT Premium with all the bells and whistles but the bike ... is a little too tall for me and really didn't feel in love with the BMW like I was with my Harley. I decided to look for another Harley-Davidson and found a beautiful 2004 Road King Classic with a custom paint job and numbered 15/100 and with only 14,500 original miles. I think and I feel that I really like the Road King better than my Street Glide but time will tell.

OK, so to each their own. If you truly want a road warrior, pick another bike like a full out touring ride. If you want a street cruiser, then buy one. BUT... If you want a bike that can handle it all, this is the one you want! I've had this bike for a little under a year and have put 1700 miles ... on it. Some of it around town and then some serious touring, about a 1000 mile ride. I seriously love this bike. It has the shake, rattle and roll at idle, but once you take off the engine smooths out and it's astonishing how smooth it is. I love the versatility of having the removable windshield and cruise control. The Fuel Injection is so nice to have! The previous owner put about $3500 of chrome accessories on it and it will knock your eyes out it's so beautiful! I also love the whitewall tires, it just adds that classic look. It is also well balanced and it's weight isn't a problem at all. It is so comfortable and the riding position is perfect in my opinion. I love this bike, and I've had them all (Goldwings, BMW's, Kawi's).

This is my first road king this bike is very comfortable and easy to ride a all around great bike.

This FLHRCI is my first Harley. It was used, but very clean with low miles. I am enamored with it. With it's ownership comes inclusion into a brotherhood of riders who truly appreciate your investment. Is it the fastest? No, but it will carry me and my wife, and our baggage at 70-75 mmph all day ... and not whimper. We road it home to Amarillo,TX from Portland,OR on Highway 50. The bike made it a great trip. No problems at all and averaged about 48 mpg. It does not leak oil and handles as well as I could expect. Like all big bikes, it eats up rear tires. I have about 11,500 miles and need a new one. The fit and finish are first rate, but the stock seat is junk. HD needs to upgrade the seats even if they need to raise the price to accomplish this. Parts and accessories are WAY too high. Local dealer wants $300.00 to put on a new rear tire. TOO MUCH, but that's not the bike's fault. I have the 95 inch big bore and Screamin' Eagle cams and air intake system. Remapped FI and a Vance % Hines two-into-one exhaust. I love this experience.

I am the owner of a 2004 Road King Classic. It is Sierra Red and Silver. This is a beautiful bike with wide whirewall tires and leather covered composite bags. It features a detachable windshield and passenger back rest. It has the Twin-Cam 88 c.i. motor.

The bike rides very well ... but is starting to exhibit "bagger wobble" in the turns. Others have remedied this phenomnom by installing a brace, of which several are available.

The bike is comfortable on long rides and has adequate power. Of course, being an H-D, there are many upgrade paths available to owners.

This is my first FLH model and I must say I am very happy with it. Are there times I wish I had the fairing and audio system? Sure, but most times I am glad I don't because then I might forget to enjoy the ride!
