By  (I am an Owner) on Jul 09, 2009

Just purchased an 07' 883 low. Of course it was used with only 469 miles on it. I picked it up for a very reasonable price. I got a brand new Sportster-cheap! The bike is very easy to learn on as it is my very first Harley. The brakes are good, but being new they tend to rub a little. Take off is ...

  • First Drive of 883 L
By  (I am an Enthusiast) on Feb 24, 2009

    I got a chance to ride a friend's wife's 883 Low-rider in Silver.

This bike had the front engine guards equipped for this model.

One thing I noticed that the bike had plenty of power and a tight throttle, giving it too much power was common for me as I laid the bike down because ...

The looks of the 883 low make it eye catching as it resembles a bobber. The bars are set high so you get that laid back feeling and the standard controls aren't too cramped for an average height rider 5'-9" - 6'-0". Shifting the 883 L is easy and the clutch is smooth, neutral is a little hard to correctly shift to sometimes and requires some practice, hence the easy shifting.

Overall I found this bike to be a great ride, aside from the mini ape bars which turn your hands in a bit and require getting used to versus straight bars, and the seat can be a little uncomfortable as it seems to be a very hard seat, the bike performed quite well in my opinion. From stopped the bike gets up in speed nicely without lag. This would be a perfect bike for someone looking to learn on a Harley and go for short trips around your local area of 100 miles or less due to the small tank 3.3 gallons.
