  • Great bike but not for everyone.
By  (I am an Owner) on Apr 17, 2011

I just traded off a heritage softail for this bike and I am very pleased . The reason I say this bike may not be for everyone is because if I was going to ride cross country I would take the heritage every time. I am a disabled rider so I needed something as I get older that is easy to handle and ...

This is a very fun bike. Decent performance stock. Lots of upgrade options though i'm not pleased about the new EPA standards and the catalysts in the head pipes.

Riding impressions . I only have 250 miles on the bike. In fifth gear on the hwy. twist the throttle half way and it just goes; same in sixth. Torque is right there and going from 65 to 80 is relatively simple. I really like the smoothness of the stock EFI. Others have mentioned these bikes running hot but since I live in Montana its 55-60 degrees at most for half the riding season and its not a problem for me so far.

Off the line acceleration is decent ... decent enough its likely to take you over the speed limit in no time at all. Its not a hot rod but has smooth power that has decent pull. Its easy enough to hot rod this bike out if you want to.

Comfort : excellent around town is fantastic. I getting used to higher speeds and 80mph is not bad once you get used to the bike. Different bars and hwy pegs will fix a lot of this . Harley now has a program to help the rider fit to the bike.

Handling . The softail was good ... this is GREAT. I had a dyna back in 2003 and all I can say is the handling is light years ahead of what it was. Hey its not a ducati.. its a harley . For a harley the handling is wonderful.

Styling: If I were to do a bike right I would do it like this.

I cant speak for everyone. For me this bike is king. Like a sportster on steroids and a lot more bike for not much more money. Get the special interest rate while you can . Great deal on loan!!

Over all this bike is a home run. We are going to get old together and as long as I can get gas .. till death do us part.
