Adventure "lite"

This bike echoes the scrambler-type bikes of the 70's. Plenty of fun on pavement, and decent on dirt roads too. Suspension a little light for bigger riders/loads, and the headlight's not much use at night. Handling is great, and where else can you get a 350-lb bike with ABS? BMW G 650 XCountry

A light, functional motorcycle with just the right amount of advanced technology such as ABS. Works very well on paved toads (both highways and backroads) and has the ability (tires, clearance, suspension travel, footpegs and muffler positioning) to handle minor off-road situations. It offers a comf...ortable, upright position and a seat height that is confidence building. The light clutch action, smoothly shifting gears, comfortable seat, low weight and wide handlebar makes riding pleasant and easy.

There are noticeable shortcomings. One is the small gas tank that requires frequent refueling. Another is the lack of storage space, but there is an accessory tank bag and a rear carrier that BMW has designed and offers for the bike.

The single cylinder is large enough to be aurally pleasing when pushed. It is a good-looking machine that is clearly a modern design but not at all outlandish or screaming to be noticed.

The incentives that BMW has provided make this interesting and low-priced bike a real bargain. I have owned over a dozen motorcycles over the past four decades and this is one of the most comfortable and fun-generating machines I have owned. It is certainly not a speedster but can handle its own in highway traffic. It does not and cannot compete with dedicated sport tourers, sport bikes or cruisers, but is a neat, economical, capable, "scrambler" alternative to the mid-sized, Japanese and British standards.

It would be a great bike for beginners but can be a relaxing ride for the experienced biker. Read Full Review

If you don't mind people trying to talk to you in traffic...

Get this bike. I bought my G 650 X country about 2 months ago people stop and admire it constantly. It looks classy and interesting. The bike is covered in quality parts and it is just a blast to ride. I live in Hawaii and there is a nice winding road that leads to a lookout behind my house. The bik...e just tears it up as I flick it around with no effort at all. This bike leaves me smiling from ear-ear. I have already put 1600 miles on it. No problems at all. The suspention is adjustable from stiff to soft. The damping is also adjustable. The bike makes a sweet sound when you push it hard and loves high RPMs as well as low RPM climbs with plenty of torque to keep you from changing gears all of the time. One thing I would note as a negative for me is the radiator fans blowing on to my knees when they kick in. It's already above 90 degrees a lot of the time here in Hawaii and when the fans kick in, it cooks your legs. The fans only really kick in in traffic when I am waiting at a light and I can usually just move my knees out of the blast.

The BMW G 650 X Country will go down in history as one of their classics. It looks classic and the thought and love that went in to it is evident on sight. So far in 2 months I have had 3 people paying me compliments in traffic and way to many to count when it's parked or when I am filling it up with gas. 1.Heavy Gears till they stuck !

2.Bad fuel burning? Engine turns off when not worm and not only then.

3.Tube from fridge fluids came off spilling liquids on my left trouser

4.Battery just left me unexpectedly as I was reaching a crossroad, lights started flashing abnormally!
