This is a perfect scooter for the city.
By (I am an Owner) on Feb 27, 2011I have owned this scooter a week now and look for excuses to ride it. It is a lot of fun. It goes 42 on level road but slows to 12 mph on a steep hill near my home. Not a problem because it's a residential area and traffic is very light plus they can just go around. Understand you could be going ... 2 mph and the engine will not stall and you would not lose control though because of the constant variable transmission. It's fast enough and so quiet people ask if it's electric. 50 cc. is perfect for the city. If you want to go 65-70 mph or be able to climb a hill and not drop down to 40 mph, you need a 500 cc engine, which I also have, but they cost much more, ins. is higher and gas mileage is much less. I drive my Prius on the Interstate or when I have passengers, or the weather is bad, I take my Vulcan 500 on the state roads with 55 mph limits, and my Aprilia 50 in the city. The Aprilia is more fun than the other two vehicles. Knowing I'm getting 90 mpg is what I like most. With bungie cords, a backpack and the storage under the seat, I can carry quite a few groceries too. The required liability insurance in Texas is $76 a year. Why carry collison on something that only cost $1515 new? With me it is about 1)gas mileage, 2)practicality, and 3)value and the Aprilia Sportcity 50 4 stroke is all 3.
