Ducati Monster 1200S, Indian FTR1200 and 1200S Shootout at the Yamaha XSR900 Corral

The Ducati would win at the dragstrip or on a race track. On the street, the Indian runs right with it. The FTRs are done at 8600 rpm; the Duc roars on to make 130 horses beginning at 9100. You wonder if Indian’s leaving something in the tank for a sportier version to be named later? At 8600 rpm, FTR piston speed is 4,153 feet-per-minute; at 10,300, the slightly more oversquare Duc’s pistons are doing 4,589 fpm.
