MotoAmerica will host the fourth iteration of "Rainey's Ride to the Races" on July 12, an event that combines a 100-mile group motorcycle ride with the excitement of championship racing. The event is aligned with the sixth round of the MotoAmerica Steel Commander Superbike Championship at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Proceeds will benefit the Roadracing World Action Fund, which promotes safety in motorcycle racing through the use of soft barrier systems at events.

Participating Legends

The event in 2024 will host an array of notable figures from motorcycle racing, including:

  • Eddie Lawson, four-time World Champion
  • Bubba Shobert, 1988 AMA Superbike Champion and three-time AMA Grand National Champion
  • Rick Johnson, seven-time Supercross and Motocross National Champion
  • Scott Parker, nine-time AMA Grand National Champion
  • Doug Chandler, three-time AMA Superbike Champion
  • Thomas Stevens, 1991 AMA Superbike Champion
  • Miguel Duhamel, 1996 AMA Superbike Champion
  • Ben Spies, 2009 World Superbike Champion and three-time AMA Superbike Champion

Event Itinerary and Path

Starting at the Moto Talbott Motorcycle Museum in Carmel Valley, California, the ride will cover 100 miles showcasing significant locales of the Monterey Peninsula. The route includes the Santa Lucia Mountain ranges, the Salinas Valley foothills, area wineries, and regions noted in John Steinbeck’s works. The journey concludes with two laps at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Special Features and Charitable Contribution

"I’m really proud of what ‘Rainey’s Ride To The Races’ has become," said MotoAmerica President and three-time World Champion Wayne Rainey. "We’ve raised nearly $325,000 since we started the ride three years ago, and that money has gone to a worthy cause – acquiring soft barrier systems we use at our races for improved rider safety."

The $700 "Rainey’s Ride to the Races" Ticket includes a Q&A session, lunch with the legends in the climate-controlled Turn 3 Paddock Suite, and a three-day general admission to the event. An additional $700 enables an upgrade to the MotoAmerica Superfan VIP Experience for the entire weekend.
