Women’s motocross added to X Games

Races will get live network TV coverage

Women’s motocross will join the line-up for X Games 14, July 31 – Aug. 3 in Los Angeles, Calif.

“Adding women’s motocross to X Games this year is great timing and a perfect fit,” says Rick Alessandri, managing director for ESPN’s X Games franchise. “We are committed to expanding the female participation at this world-class event, and the women’s motocross circuit demonstrates unbelievable talent deserving recognition on the X Games stage.”

Women’s Moto X Racing will join Supermoto, and Supercross racing at the X Games, as well as several freestyle competitions. The inaugural X Games women’s motocross competition will feature ten top female racers including 17-year-old Women’s Motocross Association Pro National phenom Ashley Fiolek.

“This is a huge step forward in women’s professional motocross,” says Fiolek who will compete in the 125cc two-stroke and 250cc four-stroke classes. “I feel honored to be asked to participate in the X Games and I am looking forward to a great race.”

The women’s motocross competition is scheduled for 4 pm EST on Aug. 2 and will be broadcast live on ABC.
