Suzuki Motor Corporation has closed all of its Japanese plants, suspending production after the March 11 earthquake and ensuing tsunamis.

All Suzuki plants are closed as of March 14 and production will be suspended until at least March 16. Factories may open after March 17, depending on Suzukis assessment of the situation.

Suzuki has six factories in Japan. Suzuki assembles motorcycle engines at its Takatsuka plant while whole motorcycles are assembled at its Toyokawa plant. Suzukis other Japanese plants include automobile, commercial vehicle and outboard motor facilities in Kosai, Iwata and Sagara as well as a foundry in Osuka.
