Schwarzenegger Signs SB435

Motorcycle exhausts to require EPA labels
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Sep. 29, 2010
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed a bill mandating EPA labels on motorcycle exhaust systems.

The Governor has approved Senate Bill 435, requiring that motorcycle exhausts bear a label on the indicating it meets noise emission standards. The new law applies to state-registered motorcycles manufactured and aftermarket exhausts produced after Jan. 1 2013.

Peace officers can issue a notice to appear for violating the new law. A first violation could result in a fine of up to $100, though the fine would be excused by producing proof of correction. Subsequent violations would result in fines of up to $250.
