Cardo Systems has released a free upgrade for its Scala Rider G4 Bluetooth headsets allowing quick connection with other riders.

The version 3.0 upgrade for the Scala Rider G4 includes the new Click-to-Link feature which allows instant one-to-one intercom connections with other G4 users within range without the usual Bluetooth pairing process. Unlike the G4 system’s existing Rider A and Rider B intercom pairings, the Click-to-Link system is designed for short-term connections.

When the Click-to-Link feature is activated, the G4 headset scans the area for other users with Click-to-Link enabled. If another user accepts an incoming Click-to-Link request, their headsets will create a temporary intercom channel for communication. The regular Rider A and Rider B intercom pairings are not affected by these short-term Click-to-Link connections.

Cardo describes the Click-to-Link feature as a “roadside social network.” Without having to go through the usual pairing process in advance, the Click-to-Link feature allows G4 users to connect with new riders they meet out on the road.

“Our latest G4 upgrade is a testament to Cardo’s continuing leadership in innovating motorcycle communications,” says Abraham Glezerman, chief executive officer of Cardo Systems, Inc. “Our remarkable Click-to-Link feature enables riders to reach out to any G4 users within range, promoting the growth of a network of people that love the freedom and comradeship of motorcycle touring.”

The version 3.0 update is available for free to Scala Rider G4 owners.

The version 3.0 upgrade also includes several new features for audio systems. With the upgrade, riders can open a dedicated channel with Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) enabled devices such as iPods. The upgrade also allows separate parallel connections to MP3 players and mobile phones.

Other new features include six radio station presets, automatic radio tuning, automatic FM radio frequency scanning and advanced volume sensitivity level controls.

“We upgraded audio features such as Volume Per Mode, which memorizes volume levels between audio sources, so when the user switches from mobile phone to GPS, the system sets the volume based on past preferences,” says Glezerman. “Our upgrades are always customer focused, as we strive to give our riders the most fun, functional and safe hands-free communication device.”

The version 3.0 upgrade is free for downloading by Scala Rider G4 owners at http://www.cardosystems.com/.
