Pirelli tires to use DOT codes

North American products drop European markings
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, May. 13, 2008
Pirelli tires sold in the US will bear regulated Department of Transportation markings, beginning in May.

Until recently, Pirelli tires sold in North America bore the CE sign which indicates compliance with European Union criteria.

From May onward, Pirelli motorcycle tires sold in North America will bear the markings established by local legislation. Tires destined for the US will have DOT codes indicating that the tire meets or exceeds DOT tire safety standards.

Pirelli says the change aims to protect consumers by ensuring that their tires come from legitimate distributors.
