October 2008 recall notices
Ducati North America is recalling the 2008 Desmosedici RR because the fuel tank drain and breather hose clamps may not have been installed correctly. The fuel lines on the affected bikes may weaken and break due to this problem. Dealers will replace the fuel filler drain hose, fuel breather hose and hose clamps on the 289 bikes affected.
Piaggio U.S.A. is recalling model years 2006-2008 Aprilia Scarabeo 500 scooters due to a problem with Bitron fuel pumps and filters. The fuel hose connecting the filter to the pump and filter mounting flange may come loose, resulting in a drop or loss of fuel pressure which could cause the engine to stall. Dealers will install hose clamps to secure the fuel hoses at both ends of the fuel pump and fuel filter on the 850 scooters that may have this problem.
Buell is also recalling 2008-2009 Ulysses XB12XT and the 2009 XB12XP police bike due to a faulty windshield which may become dislodged. Buell dealers will replace the windshield fastener assemblies on the 624 motorcycles affected by this issue.
BMW of North America is recalling 2005-2006 HP2 Enduro bikes due to a problem with the suspension. The front threaded fastener of the paralever link may not loosen. Over time, this may lead to the fastener separating from its housing and affect the handling of the motorcycle. Dealers will replace the front threaded fasteners on the paralever links with an improved fastener. BMW says 365 motorcycles may be affected by this issue.
