Aprilia Tests At Valencia

Colin Edwards has made important steps to close the gap on his new MotoGP rivals after an intense two day test with Aprilia at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia.

The World Superbike Champion completed vital set-up work on the four-stroke Cube, clocking up an impressive 91 laps, and was also able to set some fast times, with a best effort of 1:33.2 representing a two second improvement on yesterday and bringing him to within 0.4 seconds of Alex Barros´ quickest lap at recent factory Yamaha tests at the same circuit. Edwards´ unofficial time also equalled Max Biaggi´s pole record, set at the Valencia Grand Prix back in November.

The official factory session was hindered by poor track conditions on the first day but both riders found their grip today, with Edwards´ team-mate Noriyuki Haga running up 86 laps and clocking a best time of 1:33.5. The pair will now enjoy a slight respite in their preseason calendar, with their next track appearance pencilled in for the Jerez IRTA tests at the end of February.
