In the second of three rounds at Anaheim, CA. Ricky Carmichael returned (mostly) to the form he showed throughout most of the 2002 season, with a win over Honda teammate Mike LaRocco.
Carmichael now leads the AMA 250cc Series Points chase, while Austrailian Chad Reed who won AMA round 1 in Anaheim retains the lead after 5 rounds of the 250cc FIM World Supercross Championship.
Carmichael was closely chased by both Mike LaRocco and Ezra "Yogi" Lusk throughout the race. Lusk retaining the good form he showed in rounds 1 & 2 now sits third in the AMA points, behind Chad Reed. Reed suffered from an early crash and struggled for a 6th place finish.
Bubba (James Stewart) got the Anaheim Monkey off his back and took the win in the 125cc race. Kawasaki's Stewart now leads the AMA 125cc (West) Supercross Championship by 10 points over Honda's Travis Preston.
