600-Class Dyno Shootout!

We have to admit that MO led you on, and we're sorry about that. We teased you all with openclass dyno runs and we won't be doing that shoot-out for another few weeks! We know, we'rebad. Spank us, please.

In the meantime, we have some 600-class preview fodder...

Tomorrow, we'll all be in the desert (hot, dry place) at a secret location (well, we're in So. CA, so howsecret could it be?) for a day of testing (thrashing) all of the World Supersport motorcycles (all Japanese600cc machines and a Ducati 748) shod with new, sticky rubber (Dunlop's new D207GP Stars). We don'tlike doing this (that's a lie) but you keep bugging us for it (this is true), so again we slave for your amusement(and ours).

As a pre-cursor (more teasing), we've posted here the dyno runs and dyno charts of three of the fivecontenders (there's no Triumph since nobody has them yet and we're too impatient to wait). The other twobikes (see below) were new to MO so we did a comprehensive write up on them.

So until we post the complete test sometine next week, let the speculation (ie. lying in advance) andbench-racing (lying in the present) begin!

Click on the photo for an Mpeg of the YZF-R6's dyno run.
Max HP: 93.1 hp @ 12,500 rpm
Max Torque: 41.2 lb/ft @ 11,000 rpm
Click on the photo for an Mpeg of the GSX-R600's dyno run.
Max HP: 90.0 hp @ 12,350 rpm
Max Torque: 41.7 lb/ft @ 10,500 rpm
Max HP: 95.5 hp @ 12,600 rpm
Max Torque: 44.4 lb/ft @ 10,100 rpm

We were unable to video tape the dyno run for the F4. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

To make up for it, here is the combined dyno chart for all five contenders:
  • Blue = Ducati 748
  • Red = Honda CBR600F4
  • Green = Kawasaki ZX-6R
  • Purple = Suzuki GSX-R600
  • Pink = Yamaha YZF-R6
