Kurtis Roberts' Arms Healing Nicely

Kurtis Roberts, Erion Racing's 2000 AMA 600cc SupersportChampion and 1999 and 2000 AMA Formula Xtreme Champion, had successful surgerythis week on both arms for compartment syndrome. The condition typically leadsto "arm pump" while racing and results in numbness and loss of strength in thehands.

Roberts, who is currently competing in the both the AMA Pro Honda Oils 600ccSupersport Series and the AMA/Chevy Trucks U.S. Superbike Championships, hasbeen experiencing pain and weakness in both arms this season...

The conditionhassignificantly affected his performance and prevented him from riding to hisfullpotential.

"I am really excited to get this behind me," said Roberts. "My arms have hurtsomuch during the season that I haven't had one race where I was able to performat my best. I'm looking forward to being able to ride without pain, and towinning races again for Erion Racing and Honda."

Dr. Ting expects that Roberts will have a full recovery and no longer feel anypain or have weakness in his hands and arms while riding. Roberts hopes toreturn to racing later this season.
