Two in a row for Guareschi

Monza pole sitter Vitto Guareschi did enough withhis fastest lap on Friday to keep hold of another pole position for Sunday’s Supersport race at Donington Park, England. Nobody could better the Italian’s time from Friday, including Guareschi himself. The Dienza Ducati team are based in England, so Donington represents their home round even if they are using an Italian and an Australian rider on Italian bikes.

Series leader Paolo Casoli moved into second place at the very end of the session to pile on the pressure on his championship rivals. Karl Muggeridge, who maintained his provisional third without bettering his fastest lap from Friday qualifying, joins in-form Belgarda Yamaha man Casoli on the R6. Muggeridge’s Suzuki team-mate Katsuaki Fujiwara completes the front row for the 23-lap battle on Sunday.

Monza winner James Whitham was back in ninth but the home crowd had wild card rider Karl Harris to cheer as he pushed his way up the time sheet to fifth on a GSX-R600.
