Today the Australian is leading the world championship after his twosuperb wins at Valencia. After his unusual incident in the warm-up atValencia, team-mate Regis Laconi has been going through an intenseperiod of rehabilitation and it will only be possible to judge his truecondition during the first free practice session tomorrow morning.Laconi will be racing with a carbon protector on his left knee, whichshould make things a lot easier.

The Kyalami circuit was the scene for one of the two pre-season wintertest sessions at the start of this year. On that occasion the bestriders smashed the lap record and demonstrated the massive improvementrecorded by superbikes since last season. In just a few laps Troy Corsergot under his own Superpole record set last year and he was immediatelyfollowed by his closest rivals, so the challenge is on for Sunday'sraces.
