What Kind of Bike to Get?

Hi...my name is Benjamin Porch. I'm on my dad's MO account and I was wondering if some folks could give me some feedback concerning motorcycle choice. I've been driving dual-sports(Honda XLR125 and XL250) for 3 or 4 years now and I'm wondering what would be a good upgrade. I'm looking for something that rides well on the highway and yet is still tough enough to go bang around in the dirt. And something can be driven around town without too much trouble. I'm about 6' 2''-3'', 170 lbs...something thats not too expensive, can be had used for 2500 bucks or less. Any ideas?
