Speculative Quotes on Hypermotard Pricing and Details

Visited a Ducati dealer today while on a business trip and asked about the Hypermotard. There will be two models for the US market - a base edition with Marzocchi suspension for $10,500 and a S-model with Ohlins suspension (and presumably the upgraded Brembo brakes) for three thousand more. Both bikes will use the new Dual Spark 1100 engine. According to the person I spoke with it will not be a limited-production model like the sport classics.

No word on delivery date yet. The dealer I spoke with said Ducati was very restrictive with information at the US dealer show - prohibiting pictures and threatening to pull the franchise flag of any dealer who released unauthorized information. They expect Ducati to do a formal launch at the Milan show in two weeks, with a lift of the NDA's at that time.

I could not be happier with the pricing and configuration choices Ducati made for the Hypermotard. At just over $10K the base bike is going to be a hell of a ride for the money, while it is really nice to see the options of Ohlins on an air-cooled model for just a little more.
