IOM Post Office Issues Mike Hailwood Commemorative Stamp

New Mike Hailwood Commemorative Stamp and Coin Minted and Printed:

Release to Coincide with Launch of Official Mike Hailwood Web Site (www.mikethebike.com)

26 October 2006 -- Mike Hailwood M.B.E., G.M. fourteen-time Isle of Man TT winner, will be honored by the Philatelic Bureau of the Isle of Man Postal Office, with a new stamp -- part of their TT 2007 “All Time Great” Centenary Stamp Collection. Coinciding with the release of the stamp, the re-launch of the new and improved Official Mike Hailwood Website www.mikethebike.com. A beta version of the website can be viewed at http://www.asl-testsite.co.uk/index.html through 26 October 2006.



The IOM Post Office is also releasing a reproduction of “Mike the Bike’s” famous TT helmet with the Hailwood postage stamp, and an IOM Treasury Official TT 100 curpo nickel Hailwood crown. “I am extremely proud that the IOM is honouring Mike in this way. Mike was a true sportsman,” his wife, Pauline Hailwood said, commenting on the new TT 2007 Centenary stamp and coin.



The Mike Hailwood website has be updated and will go live on October 26, 2006. “It will contain hundreds of never-before-released photos; photos of Mike and my grandson, Michael David Hailwood, Jr.; details of the upcoming Mike Hailwood biopic, and streaming audio,” says Pauline Hailwood.
