Yow! Our minds were collectively blown here at MO when we heard the news of an all-new CBR600RR.

We don't know anything more than anybody else does, but a quick visit to Honda's website fills you in with what you need to know: it's faster and lighter than the 2006, which although down five or more HP on its competition, wasn't exactly a porker. We'd expect this new bike to weigh in at under 400 pounds full of fluids and make something more than 110 HP at the rear wheel, while still retaining the quality feel and ease-of-use that characterizes Big Red's products.

Next year's Middleweight Shootout should be very interesting; Kawasaki is overdue for a ZX-6R 600 remodel, and the Yamaha R6 is an incredible, tough-to-beat machine. The GSXR-600, while very track-focused, is fast and freshly redesigned as well. And you don't need to be a slavish disciple of MO to know we like the Triumph 675 Daytona a whole lot; it's a strong contender for bike-o-the-year 'round these offices.

Yes, new bike season is in the air. Expect lots of information about all the new 2007 models in the months to come from Motorcycle.com!
