Neither fish nor foul, Buell claims to be an "American Sportbike" but has a decidedly European look and feel, despite the dripping-with-heritage pushrod V-twin and Harley-Davidson ownership. We at MO have always liked these bikes, and eagerly attend each year's press introduction.
This year's is even sweeter; the XB-RR racebike is in the Buell catalog at $31,000, and they offered Senior Editor Gabe Ets-Hokin a demo ride at Buttonwillow Raceway near Bakersfield, CA. How was it? Is it fast enough to compete with the big dogs? Is there anything else worth reporting from California's not-so-lovely Central Valley?
