Rumors are flying that John Kocinski will be riding Ducati factory-backed bikes for the Competition Accessories AMA Superbike team in 2001. While nothing is inked yet for next year, MO just confirmed that the CA/Ducati team wil have four brand new 2001 Ducatis at Daytona for the upcoming Dunlop tire tests. The bikes are being flown in from Italy specifically for this event, and two of them have already cleared customs. The other two are expected to arrive Saturday.

Riders for the test are none other than 1997 World Superbike and 1990 250 GP Champion John Kocinski and current CA rider Larry Pegram...

Also, we understand two mechanics are being flown in fromItaly for the test.

This looks to be a major (expensive!) effort being put forth by CA, one whose significance shouldn't be underlooked: it's good to see a major marketing/retailing firm putting resources back into the industry. (Note that Chaparral also sponsors a SuperSport roadrace and Motocross team.)
