Beginner on Two Wheels.

I rode a honda 150 dirtbike (5 hours) and fell in love with bikes. I plan on taking the MSF class ASAP. What is a good beginner streetbike, something that can maintain a 2 hour freeway trip. I was considering the ninja 250, for a good beginner bike. Also, if you take the MSF class, does that waive (eliminate) the DMV drive test, with the cones, going around the circle and back. Thanks for your time and advice.
