For the 2000 model year Suzuki shed 28 lbs of heft and found an additional 5 hp lurking in their GSX-R750. Suzuki has made a big deal about their new racetrack weapon, so as soon as we took delivery of our bike, we strapped it to our Dynojet Model 250 dyno and wrung its neck for all the world to see.
Just how fast is the new GSX-R750?
For all the juicy specs and tech info on all the new Suzukis, check out our Y2K Suzuki Line-Up. In the meantime, until we get all the open-class bikes together on a track and throw this new Gixxer into the fray, we've posted a 1.97 MB Mpeg of the dyno run and the resulting dyno chart for your perusal.
Even compared to the output of Kawasaki's mighty ZX-9R, Suzuki's new 750 -- at 128.6 bhp -- is only two horsepower off the mark. Needless to say, we cannot wait for the open-class shootout. Could it be possible that a 750 will be king of the liter-bikes?
