And it's likely that we'll soon lose all of the awesomeImperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area -- better known as "Glamis," the name of the town it resides in.

This Thanksgiving weekend, nearly half of the area was closed and monitored by police, who made some 30 arrests. The AP News service reports in this story that: "It's made for a tense weekend in some parts of the 40-mile-long recreation area near the Arizona border as lawenforcement authorities set up checkpoints, environmental activists monitored closed areas with video cameras, andoff-roaders bristled about the closures."

Glamis comprises some 117,000 acres of sand dunes, so should we be glad that 68,000 acres were left open and campaign to keep them, or is any closure bad? Is there no general compromising (loud pipes save lives!), or should bikers take a more share-and-share-alike attitude?
