Ducati Announces New Monster 695

The 2007 Monster 695 ups the ante in terms of power, handling andperformance.

Cupertino, CA ­ February 22nd, 2006 ­ Ducati announces the new Monster 695,the latest iteration of the entry level Monster seen for the first time atthe Paris Motorcycle show. The Monster 695 represents a most uniqueoffering in the world of motorcycles and in the Ducati Monster family. It isa motorcycle that is welcoming to novice riders but, at the same time, is aDucati. Therefore, it delivers a level of performance that can even thrillmore advanced riders.

While remaining the entry point to the Ducati Monster family of motorcycles,the Ducati Monster 695 transforms a motorcyclist into a Ducatista. Ducatistiare members of a tribe of fans whose motorcycle looks, feels and sounds likeno other.

The Monster 695, a preview of the Model Year 2007, replaces the 620, and isa quantum leap forward in terms of handling, riding pleasure andperformance. The potent new 695 cc L-twin delivers much greater horsepowerand torque ­ the highest output per cc of any Ducati air-cooled engine ­while producing smoother and more fluid power, making every twist of thethrottle exciting and satisfying.

As part of Ducati's heritage of naked bikes that started over 10 years agowith the original Monster, the 695 is the next evolution of the middleweightMonster. Featuring a 73 horsepower air-cooled desmodromic L-twin engine and45 ft-lbs of torque, the new bike also boasts exceptional road holdingabilities thanks to the trellis frame and Sachs rear shock. Another benefitis the APTC clutch that features user-friendly light clutch lever effort andthe performance of a slipper clutch to reduce rear wheel chatter whendownshifting abruptly. Additionally, maintenance intervals have beenincreased to 7,500 miles and a new black with red frame color scheme isavailable.

The new model will be available in North America as a 2007 model as early asJune 2006. Priced at $7,495 USD ($9,995 CND), the MSRP for the new Monster695 remains the same as the Monster 620 it replaces.
