Harley-Davidson plans interactive display, motorcycle drawings and more in NHRA "Nitro Alley"

GLENDORA, Calif. (Jan. 25, 2006) - In a landmark announcement,Harley-Davidson, the only major U.S.-based manufacturer of motorcycles,has signed an exclusive, multi-tiered sponsorship package with NHRA thatincludes designation as the Official Motorcycle of NHRA, titlesponsorship of the popular NHRA Sportsman Motorcycle Series and anextraordinary promotion that will provide NHRA fans the chance to winHarley-Davidson motorcycles, it was announced today by officials of theworld's largest motorsports organization.



In the multi-year agreement, the first of its kind for Harley-Davidson,the official status provides Harley-Davidson the opportunity to utilizethe NHRA logo in advertising and promotional campaigns. Through theofficial program, Harley-Davidson also will receive signage at allnational events, and will be featured in many NHRA-driven marketinginitiatives.

A cornerstone of the Harley-Davidson program will be the introduction ofan interactive display in NHRA's "Nitro Alley" which will allow fans toget a taste of the Harley-Davidson experience through engaging productdisplays, racing and technical seminars and a special dyno-drag racingsimulator using V-Rod motorcycles.

NHRA will execute a unique promotion where a Harley-Davidson motorcyclewill be given away at 15 different NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Seriesevents. A grand prize motorcycle will also be presented to a lucky fanculminating an overall national drawing. The promotion will beactivated through media and marketing partners in each market.

Harley-Davidson will also develop and promote NHRA-themed ticketpackages for motorcycle enthusiasts. Packages will include discounttickets, special parking and event hospitality.

In addition, Harley-Davidson will become the title sponsor of the NHRASportsman Motorcycle Series, which will be contested in four of NHRA'sseven divisions within the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series.

Harley-Davidson officially entered NHRA four years ago with theScreamin' Eagle/Vance & Hines Pro Stock Motorcycle team. In 2004, AndrewHines gave Harley-Davidson its first NHRA victory, and later in the yearits first NHRA POWERade world championship title. Last season Hinessuccessfully defended his POWERade world championship title and rode hisScreamin' Eagle V-Rod to the first six-second run in NHRA Pro StockMotorcycle history. Hines' teammate, GT Tonglet, rode hisidentically-prepared V-Rod to a second place finish in the POWERadeSeries point standings and is the defending winner of the Ringers GlovesPro Bike Battle - a special event for Pro Stock Motorcycles contestedannually at the prestigious Mac Tools U.S. Nationals.

Headquartered in Glendora, Calif., the NHRA is the primary sanctioningbody for the sport of drag racing in the United States. It presents 23national events through its NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. The NHRAhas 80,000 racers and members nationwide and 140 member tracks. TheNHRA-sanctioned sportsman and bracket racing series' provide competitionopportunities for drivers of all levels. The NHRA develops the stars oftomorrow by offering the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Xplod SportCompact Racing Series, NHRA Summit Racing Series and the Street LegalProgram presented by AAA. The NHRA also offers the O'Reilly Auto PartsJr. Drag Racing League for youths ages 8 to 17.
