First Modern Sports Bike

Long time rider about to become a first time sport's bike owner.

I've been riding for about 25 of my 30 odd years but have never owned a modern sports bike. I've owned a couple of early 80's cafe racer style bikes, a number of cruisers (domestic and japanese) and now own a big tourer for... wait for it... touring. Problem is I miss cutting up the turns and having a hop-on-and-go bike. I'd like to supplement my Harley with a turn eating bike for thrill riding. Any suggestions? Currently I'm considering the following (order is alphabetically not preferential):

  • Buell Firebolt XB12R
  • Buell Lightning XB12Scg
  • Honda CBR1000RR
  • Suzuki GSX-R 1000
  • Yamaha YZF-R1
These "pre-choices" were selected based on a combination of reviews, aesthetics and *cough* seat height.A couple of pertinent facts:I'm 5' 9" and used to a relatively low seat height. My past bikes have run the gammut in size from 250 - 1500 ccI have no intention of taking the bike to the track.I enjoy straight line performance but enjoy carving up the twisties more.I don't want to die ;-)

Any (constructive) advice is welcome.
