State Ruling Brings Charity Poker Runs to a Halt.

I have never participated in a 'poker run' but I cannot believe how audacious the Attorney General of Texas is being. I don't completely understand why a cash prize would be awarded in something that benefits charity. But I've also never heard of 'Poker Runners Anonymous.' Asinine!--Pete

In a ruling issued Tuesday, Attorney General Greg Abbott said such poker runs, which involve participants making a monetary donation to a nonprofit cause and then riding to a predetermined location and drawing a poker hand for cash, are a "lottery" set up by the motorcycle club and constitute illegal gambling.
