Victory Unveils Their Vision. Staff

Victory Motorcycles, a division of Polaris Industries unveiled a concept motorcycle at the Cycle World International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, CA that is to say the least, a departure from what you know of Victory.

Calling it the Vision, Victory hopes to capture a market segment, or as Victory designers stated, “a combination of different segments” and give them a motorcycle for the “rider who doesn't know what type of bike they want”, according to the lead designer. Lifestyle as a design influence was paramount for the Vision according to Victory, “I wanted to look at three really popular segments and within those segments you see a lifestyle.” says Tiger, the primary designer for the Vision. With this in mind Victory has also made it even easier for those motorcyclists who are less than sure if it's a cruiser, sport bike or a standard that they want by making the Vision user friendly. How they accomplished this was by way of a CVT or Constant Variable Transmission in automatic flavor. Yes that's right, it's an automatic. Just like your favorite scooter. The premise in this feature is to “lower the learning curve” for the rider.

Visually the bike is odd to behold. Mechanically it may be even harder for some more experienced cyclists to wrap their understanding around with it's 800cc parallel twin, automatic transmission, lack of foot controls, cruiser seating position and storage compartment directly in front of the rider in the cockpit area which is roomy enough to hold two full face helmets. It also utilizes a 250 series rear tire.

The Vision is a new direction for Victory and they're excited about it just as it is rather than looking at it as a design platform from which to glean ideas from for future bikes. Otherwise, “it wouldn't be here” according the team. Victory is actively looking for feedback on this “motorcycle” and chose to unveil for that very reason. They want to know what you think of such a concept. It's difficult to describe such a machine, so seeing is believing as they say. If you're at the show stop by and let them know if you think they have vision.
