2005 Hondas

By Sean Alexander, Sep. 09, 2004
There are a couple of interesting bikes in Honda's 2005 lineup. Unfortunately, the much-loved 599 isn't one of them. On the brighter side, the excellent CBR600RR receives a welcome mid-cycle diet, horsepower boost and suspension upgrades. If cruisers are more your speed, there is a new model of the VTX 1800, called the VTX1800F. The F model features more aggressive "drag bike" styling, with revised fenders, a staggered two-into-two exhaust, three different styling packages and a seamless gas tank. For hard-core off-road guys, the outstanding CRF-250X is joined by a new CRF-450X which promises to kick much ass in the enduro, hare scramble, desert and trail riding circles. For those of you wanting a little something different, there is the "Big Ruckus" 250cc monster scooter, with styling that looks like something fresh from the Intensive Care Unit. Check them all out in our story and tell us what you think. -Sean

Tribal Paint Jobs? What's next, custom Honda arm chaps and dew rags? I like the clean styling of Honda's solid color sportbikes and cruisers. Unfortunately, it seems like the buying public is demanding a return to gimmicky graphics like we had in the early 90s. How long until we see "tribal" lime green, pink and teal graphics.... perhaps my purple motocross pants will come back into style? -Sean
