Indian Motorcycle Company announced today its support of America's relief efforts in the aftermath of the events of September 11th. Proceeds from the sales of 2001 Limited Edition American Spirit motorcycles will be divided equally between American Red Cross to assist with its relief efforts for all those affected by the September 11th attacks, and the New York Firefighter's 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund.
Indian has pledged to contribute $1,000 from the sale of each 2001 American Spirit motorcycle. Approximately one machine will be available for each dealer in the 225-strong dealer network.

"This tragedy has compelled Americans to unite more than ever -- -our nation has been tested, but it has been heartening to see that the strength of the American spirit can not be broken. Our hearts go out to those who have suffered loss, and we want to show our support in re-building the American way of life. The family at Indian Motorcycle is proud to pledge what we hope will be a significant contribution to the families of firefighters and rescue workers who perished in this tragedy," said Frank O' Connell, CEO of Indian Motorcycle Company...

The Limited Edition 2001 American Spirit, which sells for $20,995, is designed, crafted and meticulously hand-assembled at the plant in Gilroy, California. With its trademark skirted fenders and custom-painted American-flag fuel tank, the American Spirit is a unique cruiser motorcycle in the classic tradition. It is powered by an 88 cubic-inch v-twin engine with five speed transmission, weighs 620 pounds and has a 67-inch wheelbase.
