By Motorcycle.Com Staff, May. 01, 2008
MV Agustas 2008 F4 RR 312 1078 and Brutale 1078RR will make their North American debuts at the Legend of the Motorcycle Concours DElegance in Half Moon Bay, Calif. on May 3.

The Italian motorcycle company, which will be honored as one of the events featured marques alongside British manufacturer Norton, will also display several restored bikes from throughout its 63-year history.

The F4 RR 312 1078 is the latest in the companys F4 line known for its single-sided swingarm and the four exhaust pipes under the tail. Drawing in elements of the F4 CC such as the smoked screen, steering damper and 1078cc engine size with a power output of 190 horses, the F4 RR 312 replaces 2007s F4 R 312 as a commercial streetbike. The 1000cc F4 R 312 will still be available, but only for competition use.

The Brutale 1078RR continues the lines tradition for a sleek, yet savage design. With the same engine as the F4 RR 312, the new Brutale produces 10 per cent more power than the Brutale 910R, translating to 15 more HP and an extra 2 kilos of torque. Other changes include Brembo brakes and modified forks to handle the extra power output.

The two new bikes will be presented by Giacomo Ago Agostini, the all-time leader in Grand Prix motorcycle victories. Agostini raced for MV Agusta from 1965 to 1973, in both the 350cc and 500cc classes. Over that span, he won an incredible 13 world championships for MV Agusta. He won two more riding for Yamaha.

Agostini will be honored with a Legend of the Motorcycle Lifetime Achievement Award.

We could not be more excited at the prospect of celebrating MV Agustas place in motorcycle history at this magnificent event. As one of the featured motorcycle marques to be honored this year at the Legend of the Motorcycle Concours DElegance, MV Agusta is pleased Ago will be receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award, says Matthew Stutzman, brand manager for MV Agusta. MV Agusta is proud of Agos contributions to the world of racing as well as our own, which account for more than six decades of truly wonderful motorcycles.

MV Agusta will also showcase a line of timepieces from watchmaker JeanRichard. The limited-edition MV 75 World Champion Collection commemorates the motorcycle manufacturers 75 competition victories. 75 watches will be available in rose gold, 175 in titanium and 575 in steel. Each timepiece echoes the coloring and design of MV Motorcycles. A special JeanRichard edition Brutale 1078 RR will accompany the display.

The third annual Legend of the Motorcycle Concours will be held at the Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay and will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., PDT.
