Moto-ST team shuts down

Go Big Racing unable to secure sponsorships
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Apr. 03, 2008
Go Big Racing is bowing out of competition despite a successful 2007 season.

The Canadian racing team was unable to secure enough sponsors to compete, despite reaching the podium in five out of six races in the Sport Twins class of the 2007 Moto-ST Endurance series and finishing second in the overall team standings, only seven points behind champions Pair-A-Nines.

Team operators and racers Paul Glenn and Ross Millson made the decision to cease operations after placing tenth at the 2008 season-opening Daytona 300.

We were in talks with a number of outstanding companies about marketing with the team and were confident new sponsors were imminent, says Glenn. However, due to the rise of the Canadian dollar and the economic outlook for 2008, many of the opportunities were sidelined.

Glenn and Millson first formed Go Big Racing to compete in the inaugural 8 Hours At Daytona in 2006 before deciding to make a go for the 2007 Moto-ST season. The duo faced budget concerns, injuries and scheduling conflicts through the season but still managed to find success. In the end, the monetary problems proved to be too much for the small Canadian team, which included Millsons brother, Mark Millson, as the crew chief.

Its not something anyone wanted to see happen, says Millson. But after some lengthy discussions, we felt this was the best solution for this team and its members, to salvage the season as individuals.

Millson will continue to work with the teams 13-year-old development rider Steven Nickerson for the 2008 season.
