KTM demo rides at 2010 AMA VMD

KTM streetbike demo fleet at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course
By Press Release, Jun. 02, 2010
The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is pleased to announce that KTM North America will be on location with its streetbike demo fleet at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days this July 9-11 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.

The KTM lineup at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days will include the full 690 line of bikes -- the 690 Enduro, the 690 SMC and the 690 Duke. Also available will be the 950 Super Enduro, the 990 Adventure, the 990 SMT, the 990 SMR, the 990 Super Duke and the 1190 RC8 superbike.

"We're excited about our full lineup, but two of the bikes that are getting a lot of attention this year are the new 990 SMT, which stands for "supermoto travel," and the 990 SMR," said KTM Ride Orange Manager Mark Hyde. "Those two models really fill a big gap from our 990 Adventure up to the RC8, and we're hearing a lot of positive feedback from our demo riders. With KTM North America being headquartered in Ohio, it only makes sense for us to be on hand at this major motorcycling destination in our own backyard. Since we've been participating in street demos, AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days has been one of our best locations every year."

KTM is no stranger to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The company partners with the track to offer the Race_Orange Track Day Experience, which offers an "Arrive and Ride" program that provides everything a participant needs, from gear to a fully prepped bike to fuel, for a full track-day experience, including instruction time.

In addition, return visitors to AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days and past participants in the demo rides will be happy to learn that the facility has recently re-surfaced the road exiting the grounds, providing a smooth ride from the staging area to the demo route.

Held at the world-class Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days features vintage and post-vintage competition in motocross, trials, hare scrambles, roadracing and dirt track. In addition to demo rides of current production bikes, the event includes North America's largest motorcycle swap meet, educational seminars, bike shows, the Federal Companies/Allied Used Bike Corral, motorcycling seminars, the new product Manufacturers' Midway, and club corrals featuring marque and regional clubs.

Husqvarna is the 2010 Marque of the Year at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, with off-road racing legend Malcolm Smith serving as grand marshal.

Proceeds from AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days benefit the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame. The goal of the Hall of Fame, located on the campus of the AMA in Pickerington, Ohio, is to honor the distinguished men and women whose competitive spirit, passion, vision and entrepreneurship have played a vital role in shaping the sport, lifestyle and business of motorcycling.
