Kawasaki signs Chad Reed

AMA MX champion to ride KX450F
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Nov. 02, 2009
Monster Energy Kawasaki has signed reigning AMA Motocross Champion Chad Reed.

The four-time AMA Champion will race alongside returning rider Ryan Villopoto on Kawasaki s factory AMA Supercross and Motocross team.

Chad is going to bring a lot to our team, says Mike Fisher, Monster Energy Kawasaki team Manager. He has proven to be the most consistent rider this decade and his record speaks for itself. We have high expectations for both Chad and Ryan and I know they are going to do their best to meet them.

Reed and Villopoto will ride the Kawasaki KX450F.

The Kawasaki KX450F is a great bike, said Reed. I have already had a chance to ride it and Im really impressed.

Kawasaki will be Chad Reed's third team in as many years. He won championships for both Suzuki and Yamaha and will try to do it again for Kawasaki.
Reed previously raced for Kawasaki Europes World Motocross team in 2001, winning the Dutch Grand Prix. Since 2001, Reed has won one AMA Motocross title (2009), two AMA Supercross titles (2004, 2008), and an AMA Supercross Lites East title (2002). Reed has earned 105 AMA Supercross podium spots including 38 wins and five AMA National Motocross wins.

Reed is also taking part in the 2009 Race of Champions for Team Australia, as a replacement for V8 Supercar racer Jamie Whincup. Reed will team up with five-time Grand Prix racer Mick Doohan in the multiple discipline all-star Race of Champions, Nov. 2-4 at the Birds Nest Olympic stadium in Beijing, China.
