INTERMOT 2010: KTM 125 Duke
The KTM 125 Duke first appeared in concept form at last year’s EICMA show in two different variants, but at Cologne, the Austrian manufacturer presented the final production versions.
Aimed at young and entry level riders, the 125 Duke is KTM’s first street-legal 125cc motorcycle. Powered by a fuel-injected four-stroke single-cylinder engine, the KTM 125 Duke has a claimed output of 15.2hp at 10500rpm and 8.9 ft-lb. at 8000rpm.
The KTM 125 Duke uses a chromium-molybdenum trellis with a steel subframe. The suspension is supplied by 43mm upside down fork and rear monoshock from WP, both offering 6.3 inches of travel. Brakes are single disc units developed in conjunction with Brembo. With a full 2.9 gallon tank, the 125 Duke has a claimed weight of 282 pounds.
The 2011 KTM 125 Duke was developed with European tiered licensing in mind, and a North American launch is unlikely.
