Husqvarna will introduce a new adventure touring streetbike model at EICMA.

The news was announced by Hermann Bohrer, vice-president of BMW, Husqvarna’s parent company, at a launch event in South Africa. According to Bohrer, the new streetbike will combine German technology with Italian design, with former Aprilia designer Raffaele Zaccagnini overseeing the project.

The new adventure bike use a two-cylinder engine, likely based on the BMW F800GS but with a displacement near 900cc. The new model won’t be in direct competition with the F800GS, but with KTM’s 990 Adventure instead.

The new enduro model may also carry some of the design elements of the Zaccagnini-designed Husqvarna Mille 3 concept displayed at last year’s EICMA show. The Husqvarna adventure bike is expected to debut at the 2011 EICMA show in Milan with sales to begin in 2012.
